Aviva partners with RiskEye to provide online risk and reputation solutions for

cyber insurance customers  

                                               Launch comes as research shows negative online reviews are

Aviva is offering businesses protection from reputational harm caused by online ad scams, impersonation, fake reviews, misinformation and disinformation, specialist online risk and reputation monitoring partner, RiskEye.

The new service, which has been integrated as a standard feature for all Aviva cyber insurance customers, comes as research shows that negative online reviews are the sixth biggest risk faced by UK businesses.  

Cyber attacks are rarely out of the news, and there is growing awareness of the disruption they can cause to a business. To help businesses manage this risk, there are a number of services aimed at restoring data and financial losses following a cyber attack. However, there are relatively few resources dedicated to supporting a business’s reputation following malicious online activity. A business’s reputation is one of its most valuable assets, and malicious online attacks can potentially affect sales, employee morale and even the mental health of the business owner.

Four in ten businesses (39%) are worried about the impact negative online reviews can have on their business’s reputation. Much of this is based on experience, as one in four businesses (28%) have suffered reputational damage from negative reviews or posts online. One in three (33%) businesses are not confident on what to do in the event that they suffer a malicious online attack.

Help is at hand

Aviva has recognised the impact malicious online comments and misinformation can have on a business’s reputation. The UK’s leading insurer has therefore made RiskEye’s holistic service available to all Aviva cyber insurance customers, providing round-the-clock access to RiskEye’s online risk and reputation helpline to minimise or mitigate damaging online information as part of Aviva’s existing Incident Response Service.

The RiskEye service provides businesses with 24/7 online risk and reputation  support, including how to effectively request removal of malicious information from social media platforms.

Embedding the RiskEye online risk and reputation helpline in Aviva’s cyber proposition will help safeguard customers’ online reputation by providing a range of reputation management solutions, including:

·         platform monitoring if a negative post gathers traction

·         crisis management services

·         counselling for the customer or employee if they are distressed following an incident

·         legal notice templates

·         social media advice to prevent a reoccurrence of the malicious attack.

The role of the Broker

Brokers can help their business customers by making them aware of the service and educating them about the risks to reputation following a malicious or fake online post. Brokers who might appreciate the opportunity to brush up on cyber insurance can also take advantage of the Aviva Certified Cyber Insurance and Risk Professional (ACCIRP), a certified computer-based training (CBT) programme for insurance brokers. The self-led online course will equip brokers with essential information so they can help their customers identify and manage their cyber risk – including reputation.
